XMPP
XMPP allows for secure OMEMO encypted messaging, voice and video calling.
XMPP/OMEMO while flawed (read more), remains the most secure way to engage
in decentralized communication. Stratum does not implement XEP-0313
which means that it does not store your messages and cannot read or
access them, all conversations are stored client-side. This is intentional,
you can read more about this decision in the "FAQ" section.
Currently XMPP on Stratum is invite only, feel free to contact me to get an account!
IRC
IRC is a legacy protocol first established in 1988. While it has had many iterations
and upgrades the core functionality remains largely the same. Compared to XMPP
it is primitive, text only, has no file upload functionality and no encryption.
However the lightweight nature and longevity of IRC make it an incredibly portable
communication method. Enabling instant messaging on practically any and all devices.
For secure/sensitive conversations, XMPP is highly recommended over IRC.
Access the Stratum IRC network by connecting to the server "stratum.nya.pub".
